In todays class we continued with the marquee too. We learnt more about single row and single column marquee tool. This tool helps in making rows and columns and we can fill them in with the colour of our choices. with the help of paint bucket tool. we did a little assignment using these tools.

  • steps I followed are
    1. Open the image.
    2. crop the image in the required ratio.
    3. ctrl r to get the ruler guide
    4. Select View>New guide>Vertical orientation 0 inches, repeat the step with value 33% and 67% respectively
    5. and for horizontal orientation follow the same procedure select horizontal orientation.
    6. Select a box in the grid with the rectangular marquee tool and click ctrl J (the selected square will get copied on a new layer.)
    7. Repeat this process till all the boxes has a new layer.
    8. you can change the colour of the canvas by using the paint bucket tool and filling in while being on the background page.
    9. Click on the respected layer
    10. press Ctrl t (to transform the image) and give it a tilt.
    11. to give it a stroke click on Selection>Edit and lastly Stroke set the pixels according to your preference.
    12. lastly for getting the picture back in its original form select File>Revert or f12.

In the second half we learnt about the Lasso tool which if further divided into Normal lasso tool –( i.e. free hand selection) and Polygonal lasso tool – ( i.e. straight selection) . below is my class work which I did with the help of polygonal lasso tool

  • steps I followed are:
    1. place an image of your choice
    2. Unlock background layer and convert into layer>
    3. select the required part of the image with the help of lasso tool.
    4. delete to remove the background.
    5. Ctrl+ Shift + I to inverse the image.
    6. Ctrl A to select all
    7. Ctrl C ( copy the image )and paste it on a new canvas using by Ctrl V.

One can save the selection by Select>Save selection and to get the selection back Select and click on Load selection. you can modify the image by following these steps, click on Select> Modify>Feather/smooth/contract/expand.
