14TH JANUARY 2020.
Today’s class was an introduction to InDesign . To understand it we discussed the difference between illustrator, photoshop and InDesign. in design is a desktop publisher used for multi page documents, heavy text. photoshop is a raster image editor which is mostly used to retouch images, edit artwork digital images for web, website. illustrator is a vector graphics editor which focuses on 1 page documents, creating logos and icons, brand logo After the discussion we began with creating an A3 page. We chose millimeters as the unit to measure the size. Besides the size of the canvas we had to select the number of pages required and the facing pages. There is an option which enables one to create columns and we can even set the column size (gutter). you have the option to increase the margin size, bleed and slug. we started by knowing more about the use of masters and how it functions. A master helps to combine the pages and every artwork created on a single page gets copied on every page . This makes it more convenient and quicker as one doesn’t need to repeat it . later we were introduced to various tools such as the clip mask, rectangular frame tool, different shapes, gradient, text wrap, how to add page numbers, content collector tool. Some of them had many features to them like the text wrap allows one to give several modifications to a text and it’s placement. The content collector was a great way to keep things organized and easy flowing. The clip mask was beneficial to fit an image within any shape along with the fittings option which positioned it well. our first task was to make a document consisting of 18 pages, 4 per subject and the cover and the last page. This needed 4 masters with 4 pages per subject For each subject I chose to give it a minimal heading and insert pictures in different shapes using clip mask, shapes and rectangular frame tool. I placed the text at random places with the help of threading and text wrap.
