today, We began with a discussion on design as a whole and how design is further broken down in several different specializations that is Communication, Interior, Fashion, Fashion communication, Strategic design management, Product and . To get an insight we were given an assignment to list down different categories and aspects in our respective discipline.my choice of specialization is interior design. I wrote down points which came in my mind like space, color theme, furniture, and many more. After this we had to switch our papers with someone and read what others have written about their own specialization , one could question his or her peer too. later we began discussing about the various elements of each specialization and then began connecting the similarities and finding connection between them.The class was very informative , the entire class was filled with discussions , this gave me an idea about the other disciplines. I learnt more about interior design too . and how one specialization is connected with one another.
WHAT IS DESIGN ACCORDING TO ME?
designer creates design as a service to others.
Design according to me is when You see a problem in an object , you basically analyse it and try and remove those flaws. The process you hence undertake to do so is design. hence Design is essentially problem solving at its core. Design is also how things work. It is the functionality, the coming-togetherness and the aesthetic appeal of something.it is depicting thoughts in reality in many different ways. It is a very broad concept and its meaning can vary from one field to another. Design has the ability to be functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. it is an expression. It is about creating solutions for people it can be in any form like physical products, services and many more. Designing plays an integral part in our lives.
CAN YOU CATEGORIZE DESIGN AND BREAK IT INTO PARTS, ARE THEY INDEPENDENT FROM ONE ANOTHER?
According to me designing is very vast term that is segregated into several different specializations, Even when there are similarities and all parts of designing are correlated, they are still independent from one another, although they might not be completely independent due to some basic similarities between the two for example The work of a interior designer is very different from the work of a person specializing in product design (furniture design ) , there are few similarities and the basis of study might be the same but the kind of work the both do is very different.
