the class started by discussing the chalcolithic era (8000-1500 BC) within which we began with first discussing what a civilization is and the difference between a civilization and settlement. A civilization is mostly formed around a river where people settle for a long period of time whereas a settlement is resided in for a shorter period of time.Discussing the Indus valley civilization, 1. City planning 2. Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro 3. Pottery 4. Burial system 5. Seals 6. Trading 7. Articles made from terracotta like pots, statues etc 8. Agriculture We discussed the trading system and the trade of valuables amongst other civilizations. Jorwe It is located in Maharashtra and has 200 settlement. Diamabad was the important city with 4/5 walls around it showcasing a social hierarchy.Pottery was common between the 3 civilizations but it was different in its own way. They had different shapes, sizes, rims, patterns and different purposes like cooking etc.
