OBJECT AS HISTORY WEEK5

3RD JANUARY 2020

In todays class I learned more about Egyptian civilisation . The civilisation was divided into 3 parts- Upper Egypt, middle Egypt, lower Egypt. We began by looking at pictures of pottery and guessing the use of them, first the shape was analyzed next, the motifs painted onto them, there were two holes on the side that proved a rope was used to hold it and the shape and size was used to carry a liquid. We saw other forms of pottery which indicated wine production and the pots being used to store wine. Next I learnt more about sculptures of deities who were prevalent around the same time, and different versions of them were seen throughout other civilisations I gained knowledge about the Narmer palette, an Egyptian artefact made out of stone which was found across Egypt in palaces and royal households. The Narmer palette is the earliest known cosmetic palette, this stone was an item of luxury and was only found in royal households and palaces. Stone an item of daily use was also used for making items of luxury.the sarcophagus are the coffins were the bodies were put, The sarcophagus had eyes painted on the side which was done because the eyes of the dead were removed before being placed into the coffin, the dead were buried with daily items and items of luxury and the servants of the royalty were also buried as a sign of respect and with the idea of an afterlife. Next we moved to discussing temples, the first example that was shown was very similar to that of a ziggurad, a temple found in the Sumerian region. From these temples, it changed to creating pyramids, pyramids of Giza and sphinx of Giza being the main examples.

The Egyptian civilisation was a familiar topic for me. i was able to identify the element of the same , learning about the civilization was very interesting.I got to know more new stuff
