6th January, 2020.

First week of objects as history begun with a discussion on what we thought the subject was about, which was studying history through objects, this led to a discussion on what the meaning of an object was, everyone in the class came up with their own meaning . An object could be described as something of use, it can be made out of any material and has a purpose. this conversation led to the difference between an artefact and object. Artefacts are objects, which has a historical value attached to it. the difference between an artefact and an object is that an object has a purpose, but an artefact might not have one. later Then we discussed the 3 different ages of history, namely- paleolithic, Neolithic and chalcolithic.miss started the discussion by the main elements. mainly the way of living, cave paintings, products made using animal remains such as fur, bones, the kind of tools they used and lastly the invention of fire.we even learnt the meaning behind cave paintings, Cave paintings were used for communication, cavemen moved from one place to another, their survival depended on moving from one place to another, once the natural resources were finished, they used to move. the cave paintings were a way to communicate the message to the ones who were going to live there next. we saw various examples of it. We also gained knowledge about Jericho (place between Israel and Syria), archaeologists found 20 layers of cities beneath Jericho.in the end we also talked about the burial system and why people were buried in their own homes, it was because people believed in life after death.
