2ND MARCH 2020
We began with a discussion on recycling and up cycling, we had discussed about recycling in depth earlier but upcycling was a new concept to us. Recycling is the process of turning waste into a reusable material or product. Upcycling, on the other hand, is a very specific form of recycling that turns waste into a material or product that is of a higher quality. to get a clear insight and help us distinguish between the two terms, We went through a slideshow of examples.
Later all students in the class were given one material each and then the class was randomly divided into pairs and the pair had to up cycle and make an object out of it. The two objects we got were cork board and plastic. we sketched out few ideas for the model. concept of upcycling was completely new to me. I learnt how unwanted products can be converted into useful ones. It was an interesting way to look at different materials and their utilization combine them and come up with a new product.
